Nail Care

The fact that you’re here reading about nail care proves that we are not alone in our love for bomb looking nails. And we are overjoyed! In case you need it, here are a few tips and tricks we’ve learned obsessing over our nails through the years.

  • Cut, file and buff

Make sure to use sharp tools when doing your nails to ensure that the whole process is time-efficient. Buffing your nails helps to remove the yellow tinging that usually happens when using nail polish regularly.

  • Do not skip the base coat!

Base coats truly help to keep your nail strong and also make sure that your nail polish lasts for a long time.

  • Cover your nail in three strokes

The first stroke goes from the cuticle to the tip of the central portion of the nail. Then, follow the same method on both the sides on the nails.

  • Skip the thumbs

To avoid messing up, and to help with cleaning up in case you do, skip your thumbs initially. Come back to them at the end. This ensures the perfect polish application every time.

  • Topcoat

Just like base coats, topcoats help ensure that your freshly painted nails stay fresh for longer. You may even reapply topcoat every two days or so to revive your polish and double its lasting power!

  • No fan + A/C

When applying nail polish, make sure to put off your fan and AC. Not doing so will make your nail polish dry with weird-looking bubbles. Five minutes after you apply your topcoat is the best time to turn your fan/AC back on to help the polish dry faster and seal the deal.

From start to finish this may take you maybe 40 minutes, but way longer to ensure that you don’t mess up your nails when it’s still wet. If you have turned to gel manicures simply because you were sick of waiting for your polish to dry, the Kiko Milano nail polish drying drops or the Inglot dry and shine top coat are both such GODSENDS! You just add a drop of the liquid onto wet polish, and it dries the polish instantly. OMG, right??!

If you have weak/brittle nails:

Do not fall prey to the gel polish/extension trend. In the long run, they do more harm than good because of the harsh and abrasive method of removal.

Use pure Vitamin E oil on your nail bed to strengthen them. Get yours here
